I’m Sara Pinson and I started knitting in January 2023. Knitting helped me through a really rough and uncertain period of my life. I started The Purling Squirrel in 2024 because I wanted to share my passion for knitting and the health benefits that come with it with the community. It originally started as a tiny shop selling only my adorable hand-knit animals and critters- hence, my “Knitting Nature” slogan. The shop quickly grew and expanded to offering only the best knitting needles and crochet hooks while also sourcing out handmade products and supporting other small businesses. I am committed to providing high quality knitting and crochet supplies that everyone can access.

“Why squirrel?” you ask. I just think they’re so stinkin’ cute! My love of squirrels began when a childhood neighbor handcrafted a squirrel feeder out of wood for my family. We installed it on our back deck, added some corn, and the squirrels provided entertainment.
